About

People of this region are the fine sports persons and represented Haryana at the national and international level. The region also contributes significantly to the national Armed Forces. Due to sacrifices of brave soldiers of this district during battles, the city came to be known as City of War Heroes.

The city is famous as a nursery of boxers, such as Sh. Lal Ram Sangwan, Ms. Geeta Kumari, Sh. Dinesh Kumar, Sh. Jagdish Singh and Sh. Vijendra Singh Beniwal. Geeta Phogat who won India’s first ever gold medal in wrestling at the Commonwealth Games in 2010 also belongs to Bhiwani.

Gauri Shankar Temple (Kirorimal Temple) is famous nationwide, while Naurangabad Mound, is one of the historically important places of interest excavated at this place.

Locations: The Bhiwani district is bordered by Hisar district on its north, some area of Jhunjunu and Churu districts of Rajasthan on its west, Mahendergarh district and areas of Jhunjunu on its south and district Rohtak to the east. It is 124 kilometers from Delhi and 285 kilometers from Chandigarh
