Location -: District - Sonipat

Situation -: Situated in Jatwara Mohalla of Sonipat city.

Under protection of -: Government of India

Period -: 1522-24 AD

History and description -: This beautiful tomb was built over the mortal remains of a local celebrity, Khwaja Khizr, who rose to prominence during the reign of Ibrahim Lodi (1517-1526 AD). This tomb is among the very few monuments where 'kankar' blocks have been used along with red standstone. Standing on a high platform and reinforced with square protections at the corners, the tomb is approachable through wide stairs leading to its gateway. The gateway consists of two-arched openings at the terminal end of the central passage, having a façade decorated with designs executed in blue, yellow, green and dull red colours. The burial chamber is surmounted by a hemispherical dome, resting on an octagonal low drum that has a finial setting over an inverted lotus flower as its crown. According to a Persian inscription on the site, this tomb complex of Kwaja Khizr, son of Darya Khan Sarwani, was built during 1522-24 AD.
