A 'short drive' distance away from the centre of New Delhi,
Haryana Tourism's prestigious Surajkund Tourist Resort comprising
Hotel Rajhans, Sunbird Resort and Hermitage Huts Resort, spread
amidst suburban serenity, verdant and restful, where the landscape
juxtaposes the grandeur of 10th century AD's architectural
magnificence, with contemporary aesthetics. The existing water
body enjoys architectural resemblance to a Roman amphitheatre.
According to mythological lore it was one of the bathing pools, of
the Pandava Brothers. Historically, it is a reminder of the valour
of the Tomar King Raja Suraj Pal. It is only befitting that the
inherently, culturally rich project such as the Surajkund Design
Galleries finds pride of place here.
The permanent fifteen Surajkund Design Galleries, quaintly set in
stand alone stores, amidst nature's munificence, houses
prestigious Designers, all specialists in different mediums. This
unique initiative offers a perfect platform for conserving and
developing innate talent pools and knowledge banks, for carrying
forward the learnings of a swelling legacy, to experts and other
economically weak sections of Craft Artisans. With the latter, to
view the exposure as a means of creating self sufficiency at a
minimum and augmenting life standards in the larger perspective,
besides exposing them to the nuances of the trade and enriching
their inherent talent from the resources of famous, established
and experienced Designers.

and Craft and the impressive contemporary Design wealth of India,
the Surajkund Design Galleries offers accomplished and aspiring
professionals, a unique opportunity to interact with the country's
leading Designers and Artisans. To see, feel and experience the
rich repertoire of Indian Designing talents in this maiden venture
of Haryana Tourism, a precursor to planned expansion in this
segment.
The Surajkund Design Galleries has been jointly funded by the
Ministry of Commerce, Government of India and Government of
Haryana and stands as the maiden venture of Haryana Tourism under
the technical guidance of the Development Commissioner
(Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.
The Surajkund Design Galleries is Haryana Tourism's plan to make
Surajkund a hub of dynamic activities and festivities all year
round.
